NEW ORLEANS – Rocking a guitar and some down-home country anthems, Bob Browning, of Feliciana
Parish, won the Louisiana Farm Bureau Talent Contest Friday night.

The Ethel native with the big grin cracked a tough crowd Friday night
with a medley of Southern-fried favorites. "Hold My Hand," by Hootie
and the Blowfish; the Georgia Satellites' "Keep Your Hands to
Yourself," and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama" — wisely
revised to "Sweet Home Louisiana, where the Tigers are so true"
— elicited claps and hollers as Browning winningly worked the
crowd.

Browning is the son of Marc and Bettye Ann Browning. He will
attend Mississippi College in the fall on a track and field
scholarship, and major in Kinesiology.

First runner-up in the senior division of the talent contest was
Laura E. Couvillion, of Vermilion Parish. The 14-year-old daughter
of Wayne and Brenda Couvillion of Abbeville brought Broadway to
New Orleans with a delightful performance as Maria of the title
song from "The Sound of Music."

Randall Gremillion, of Pointe Coupee Parish, was named second
runner-up in the senior talent division. The 18-year-old daughter
of Randy and Tracie Gremillion performed a powerful, passionate
rendition of "Via Dolorosa" in both Latin and English.

The Farm Bureau Talent Contest's Junior Division winners are
veterans of this and other performing competitions.

Brandi Darby, Hailey Gauthier, Lauren Bourque and Maci
Quebedeaux, all of St. Landry Parish, dazzled a packed house
with their sparkling acrobatic dance routine to Michael Jackson's
"Ease on Down the Road," from "The Wiz." The group has
performed together for more than five years, and it showed.
Seamless choreography, professional-grade costuming and lots
of personality took the group to the top of their division.

First runner-up in the Junior Division was Jade Brady. The tiny
powerhouse turned up the heat with her performance of Elvis
Presley's "Burnin' Love," sporting white leatherette pants with
sequined flames and a killer stage presence. Brady, 8, is the
daughter of Jamie and Shantele Brady of St. John Parish.

Sarah Ellen Flynn, of Avoyelles Parish, was named second
runner-up in the junior division, charming the audience with
her rendition of Taylor Swift's "Our Song."

The talent contest was one of the highlights of the Louisiana
Farm Bureau's 86th annual meeting. Sponsored by the
organization's Women's Committee, it is one of many
activities for young people that takes place each year at convention.

The Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation is the state's largest
general farm organization.
