La., has been reelected president of the Louisiana Farm Bureau

Washington Parish Stunner Wins Farm Bureau Queen’s Contest
Louisiana agriculture just got much more attractive with the crowning of
the 2009-10 Louisiana Farm Bureau Queen. Sarah Beth Stafford, a
glowing blonde brought up on her family farm in Mount Hermon, won the
annual competition after a week of interviews and other activities
designed to test the girls’ knowledge of the industry.

Outlook sweet for state’s sugar growers
Craig Ruffalo, a market analyst with McKeany-Flavell of Oakland, Calif.,
told growers and millers raw sugar prices should hold steady in the short
term. While Mexican sugar imports will continue, Ruffalo said the domestic
situation is improving.

Rice prices are likely to continue a slow decline from the record-high prices
in the past few years, although the prices will remain good on average,
rice farmers were told at their commodity meeting at the Farm Bureau
